Every show season, thousands of custom-built stands are used for only a few days before being disposed as waste after a single use. This costs exhibitors money, creates challenges for organizers, and puts the industry’s sustainability promises at risk, as it results in tons of waste that could be prevented. Better Stands, winner of the 2026 UFI Sustainable Development Award, offers a practical solution. With its 10-point framework it provides a clear, standardized route to work with reusable stands at events across the globe. More than 70 member organizations are already implementing it. This webinar will show exhibitors, service providers, venues and event organizers how the Better Stands framework works in practice. It covers its 10-point checklist and its Single Use, Bronze, Silver and Gold ratings. You’ll hear how organizers are using it to set measurable baselines and reduce waste, and how exhibitors and their service providers are designing stands that deliver value show after show. You’ll leave with a clear, credible path to more sustainable and cost-effective event participation.
Learning objectives:
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Explain the Better Stands framework. Describe how the 10-point checklist assesses stand reusability and what separates a Single Use stand from a Bronze, Silver or Gold rating.
- Assess and improve stand reusability. Evaluate a current or planned stand against the framework and identify practical design, material and build choices that move it up the rating scale.
- Apply the framework to drive measurable change. Use Better Stands ratings to establish a waste-reduction baseline, track progress across events, and engage stakeholders such as designers, contractors and exhibitors around a shared industry standard.
