You will have 90 days from the date of the course to take your exam. No proctor is needed. Exam Instructions and exam password will be provided to you at the end of the day.
You are required to read the workbook before class. It is located under the “Workbook & Schedule” tab.
You must have a webcam to take this class.
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
A successful exhibition or event is often produced by the efforts of multiple service providers. A substantial portion of the exhibition or event organizer’s responsibility is to evaluate, source, and contract for the services and products needed to produce a successful event.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
After completing this course, the participant should be able to:
- Explain the role and responsibilities of the official service contractor (OSC)
- Identify the purpose and types of specialty contractors
- Explain the role and responsibilities of an exhibitor-appointed contractor (EAC)
- Determine criteria to be used for selecting service contractors through the Request for Proposal (RFP) process
- Discuss the importance of identifying who handles what service and how this can impact services or costs
- Articulate how local labor regulations impact events, including labor rights and labor laws

Stephanie Houck, CEM has over 20 years of exposition operations experience. She is currently the Senior Director, Exhibit Operations at SPARGO, Inc., focusing on healthcare meetings, which include the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Society of Hematology and the American Society of Anesthesiologists. As Senior Director of Exhibit Operations, Stephanie oversees the operations team and is responsible for programs such as the Sponsorship Program Development and Fulfillment, Product Theaters, Exhibitor Resource Center, Exhibitor Communication and Education Programs, which includes webinar offerings, newsletters and First Time Exhibitor program. Stephanie holds her CEM designation (Certified in Exhibition Management) and is an active member of HCEA and IAEE.
